Tiger Mimic – Where The Fire Used To Be (2020)
If you are a fan of The White Stripes, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or B52’s, then I suggest you sit your butt down and pay attention to Tiger Mimic. Formed in 2018, this London-based foursome has had quite an impressive and well-received musical career. Working with Grammy Award-winning producer Matt Lawrence on their 2019 EP Elephant Skeleton, the band made a splash on the UK music scene. From Amazing Radio to The Zine UK, Tiger Mimic is gaining an international reputation as an energetic, lively and exciting group. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Where The Fire Used To Be’.
While being a powerful and pounding number, ‘Where The Fire Used To Be’ has some interesting movements making it intriguing. The effortless and complementary change from Bram Johnson’s high-speed vocals to Jess R’s smooth, steady voice is both innovative and skilful. Of course, skill isn’t exclusive to the vocals; the seamless instrumentation transitions between these two sounds is elegant and sophisticated.
From punk to alternative rock with female vocals reminiscent of Lzzy Hale, Tiger Mimic is engaging, energetic and inventive. ‘Where The Fire Used To Be’ is mere evidence of their awesomeness.
