Track of the Day: That Hidden Promise – You Can Have The World

Born and bred in Blackpool, but now based in Somerset, UK artist Wayne Lee presents That Hidden Promise. After deciding to bring something different to the singer/songwriter world. , Lee set up That Hidden Promise as a solo project to share some sensational sounds. Armed with inventive and thought-provoking tracks, That Hidden Promise began infiltrating the underground scene in 2011. The latest track added to his repertoire is ‘You Can Have The World’.

Adopting a DIY approach to production, Lee recorded and produced ‘You Can Have The World’ completely independently in the beginning of 2020. Combining his skills as a vocalist, guitarist, percussionist and any other instrument used, Lee shows his natural talent as a multi-instrumentalist musician. One element I find particularly intriguing in the melody and lyrics is the similarity to live performances. The passion, power and energy behind his music guarantees a superb show.

The single itself is dynamic with a traditional alternative rock design; however, the gritty vocals over a steady melody makes ‘You Can Have The World’ an edgy experience. According to Lee, the concept of the single is “of someone looking into a city and world driven by division, chaos and revolution” – the intensity of the track certainly brings this concept to the fore. If this single is anything to go by, I am definitely looking forward to the debut album Who Knows Now on 18th September.

“The concept behind the single is of someone looking into a city and world driven by division, chaos and revolution whilst seeing the potential to rise through sacrifice and failure against a system all too quick to take the credit” – That Hidden Promise on ‘You Can Have The World.
